It began in May of 2001 with a straightforward request to look at redesigning corporate literature. Reviewing the company in its marketplace, Karen felt that there were reputation issues which would not be dealt with by simply producing a new brochure, and invited Emma, who she knew from Countrywide Porter Novelli, and Gary, who she knew from Beaufort Management Consultants, to respond to the brief.
The fledgling fe3 presented the following month, with brand as a focus for growth.
Over a large glass of wine after the presentation, we decided that we’d had such a good time working together we wanted to keep doing it. We thought the ideas had significant potential and that our skills blended together made a unique proposition.
We developed fe3’s service through the summer of 2001, exploring what attracted and retained a company’s employees and customers – its Corporate Magnetism – and developing a diagnostic with significant predictive power.
An important part of fe3’s development was to decide what we don’t do for clients. This was not just about making a niche consultancy – it was about remaining true to our interests and skill set.
Therefore, what we don’t offer:
We launched in January 2002 – a celebration rather than a business event, at which friends, family and business partners mingled between laughing at our loop presentation, chomping canapés and listening to the DJs.
Four years on, we continue to grow in ideas and in ambition and look forward to writing the next page in our history.
Launch 31 January 2002
We held our launch on at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, and thanks are due to everyone who came and enjoyed but also to those people who helped us put it together.
Those sterling individuals were:
Andy Pittaway (now, sadly, no longer with us) and sequeladvision for our corporate ID; Wayne Fick for our wonderful presentation on the night; our funky DJ’s Suzanne Trotter and Rececca Budds; our amazing magician Lee Warren and all the staff at the ICA.
